“4 Million Reasons to Celebrate”: It is Nurses Week!

FRIDAY, MAY 3, 2019

Starting tomorrow, healthcare organizations all over the nation have 4 million reasons to celebrate. May 6-12 is National Nurses Week. According to the American Nurses Association, this week has been a time to celebrate and elevate the nursing profession since 1993. The association’s website states that, “National Nurses Week is a time for everyone – individuals, employers, other health care professionals, community leaders, and nurses – to recognize the vast contributions and positive impact of America’s 4 million registered nurses. Each year, the celebration ends on May 12, Florence Nightingale’s birthday.”
According to the association, the official tagline of the week is “4 Million Reasons to Celebrate,” which recognizes that nurses comprise the largest group of health professionals in the nation. Through sheer numbers and wide-ranging roles, nurses have an unmatched perspective on prevention, wellness and delivery of health care services. Nurses are everywhere we live, work, play, learn, and worship and in every health care setting providing care to millions of people. Nurses are closest to patients, providing care from birth to the end of life.
Nurses that work in the long-term care setting are especially important. As millions of American Baby Boomers become seniors, the need to seek long-term healthcare options for either themselves or their parents increases. It’s long-term care nurses that will have the bulk of the responsibility for ensuring that these future residents have professional, dignified and compassionate care. Long-term care nurses help their residents to function at their optimum level of independence, while ensuring their needs are met. Nurses are vital to the everyday functioning of skilled nursing facilities in this country and they deserve to be celebrated during this special time.
Please join The Compliance Store in showing our deepest gratitude for the women and men who work as long-term care nurses across the nation. Their commitment to their profession and the residents they care for is appreciated and it’s one of the reasons that we do what we do. The Compliance Store is honored to have the privilege of working with nurses and directors of nursing to help provide solutions to make caring for residents easier, safer and more efficient. Thank you to all long-term care nurses for enriching the lives of your residents, their families and your facility communities. We hope you have a great National Nurses Week!
