Job Summary

As the General Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the day-to-day operations and strategic direction of the pharmacy. You will be responsible for managing a dynamic team of professionals, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and driving growth and profitability.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Operational Management: You would be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the pharmacy. This includes managing pharmacy staff, ensuring proper workflow, and maintaining high-quality medication dispensing, packaging, and labeling standards.
  2. Regulatory Compliance: Pharmacies are subject to various regulations and standards set by regulatory bodies such as the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and state pharmacy boards. You are responsible for ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and maintaining proper documentation and record-keeping.
  3. Quality Assurance: Maintaining the highest medication safety and quality level is crucial in a pharmacy. You would need to implement quality assurance programs, conduct regular audits, and review processes to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as necessary.
  4. Staff Management: As a general manager, you would oversee the hiring, training, and performance evaluations of pharmacy staff. You must ensure proper staffing levels and create a positive work environment that encourages professional growth and development.
  5. Customer Service: Our pharmacy serves institutional customers such as nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and other group settings. Providing excellent customer service to these customers would be essential. You would need to establish strong relationships with customers, address their needs and concerns, and ensure timely and accurate delivery of medications.
  6. Financial Management: You would be responsible for the financial management of the pharmacy. This includes budgeting, expense control, pricing strategies, and maximizing revenue generation.
  7. Technology & Automation: Our pharmacy relies heavily on technology and automation systems for medication dispensing, inventory management, and record-keeping. As a general manager, you must stay abreast of technological advancements and assess their potential impact on improving efficiency and patient care.
  8. Strategic Planning: Developing and implementing long-term strategic plans for the pharmacy would be part of your role. This includes identifying growth opportunities, exploring new markets, and adapting to changes in the healthcare landscape.
  9. Collaboration: We work closely with nursing home administrators, healthcare providers, physicians, nurses, and other stakeholders. You would need to foster collaborative relationships and effective communication to ensure the seamless provision of pharmaceutical services.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
  • Bachelor’s Degree required. A Licensed Nursing Home Administrator (LNHA), Certified Assisted Living Administrator (CALA), Practice Manager, or Pharm. D is preferred.
  • Prior experience in healthcare is required, preferably in a pharmacy or other healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge of Medicaid and Medicare Reimbursement and contract negotiations is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and handling customer complaints or difficult situations empathetically and professionally.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy operations, prescription medications, and medical terminology is preferred.
  • Attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively
