Gold standard

According to AAPACN, RAC-CT “certification is the most widely-recognized and respected MDS 3.0 certification available in the long-term care profession, as well as the mark of nurses who understand more than a paper form – they understand resident assessment.” It is becoming more common for employers to look for candidates with this certification. According to a certifications survey by Indeed.com, 58 percent of job seekers said earning their Resident Assessment Coordinator – Certified (RAC-CT) helped them get a job.

With so many compliance regulations changing so quickly in recent times, having knowledge of the “gold-standard” in resident assessment in your facility makes sense for strengthening care quality and your bottom line. In 2019, the Office of Inspector General cited failure to develop a comprehensive care plan as No. 5 of the Top 10 deficiencies in facilities nationwide. According to OIG, there were 19,500 deficiencies of this type.

RAC-CT Certification

Increase your knowledge of clinical assessment and care planning, completion of the MDS, the regulations surrounding the RAI/MDS process, and managing the PDPM by attending an AAPACN Resident Assessment Coordinator – Certified (RAC-CT) certification workshop. Having the RAC-CT credential behind your name shows that you are a knowledgeable and capable MDS professional.

RAC-CT certification is the nationally recognized gold-standard in resident assessment in the long-term care nursing profession. By earning this credential, individuals have shown their expertise in skilled nursing facility prospective payment system and minimum data set (MDS 3.0) assessment.

  • MDS Coding for OBRA and PPS, parts 1 and 2
